BETTER THAN THE FACTORY
Last week our old lovely customer and friend John the swampy walked in the shop for a chat. He’d not been for a year so gave him the tour of the new workshop.
As we were walking around, he came out with ‘did you know I went to the Spanish factory in the early eighties for a visit’?
Of course he went on his Sx200! No surprise there.
Then he came out with your workshop is better than the factory! Which made me laugh but did assure me it was!
Here I’m showing off our little machine shop. My time is spit between this shop, the tuning shop, open fabricating shop and the engine shed!
This is where welded casings mainly machined and parts get turned down and one off parts are made as well as doing the rebores.
Whilst the boring bar was churning away, I thought Id give it a bit of a clean and sweep up as its been a busy summer and the floor was full of swarf.
I like to listen to the boring bar, you get to know what its saying and if it’s cutting okay. Nice when its quiet but other times I machine a head at the same time or do some quick production machining to keep an eye on the boring bar.
Having learnt my lesson last year when someone collared me for a chat, when I returned the tip had broke and locked up and burnt out the motor – argh another job I had to do!
So here it is 2 lathes, a milling machine, grinding machine, a boring bar and all the tools required to machine casing, cranks, cylinder, heads, hubs, headsets and much more!
If you haven’t got the tooling you can’t do the work right and we like to do it right!
